The "Consulate of Culture" Society

The “Consulate of Culture” Society is a non-profit greek association placing great interest in cultural events and art in general. In the last few months our Society presented a number of cultural events in the district of Elassona.

Latest events

• Theatrical and musical event dedicated to the Greek poet Nikos Kavvadias, the poet of the sea.
• Presentation of the traditional fairytales of Thessaly
• Inauguration of the Society’s Film Club
• Poetic and musical evening with the famous Greek director Kostas Tsianos, who read poems of Seferis, a greek Nobel prize winner.

The events to come

• October 2, 2005: The history of Elassona. Four distinguished personalities talk about historical events and present documents of the past.
• October 23, 2005: A dedication to Manos Hatjidakis, the Academy Award winner Greek composer.

Article 1
Name - Headquarters - Stamp

1. In the prefecture of Larisa, in the county of Elassona, the cultural association called Politistiko Proxeneio (Consulate of Culture) is founded
2. The headquarters of the Association is in Elassona, Larisa, Greece.
3. The association bears a round stamp with the name “Politistiko Proxeneio” on it and the year of foundation. In the middle it shows the logo of the association.

Article 2
The objectives of the Association are :

1. The moral, social, cultural, intellectual development of citizens.
2. Developing trans-cultural and inter-communal relations at European and international level, developing relations of collaboration and solidarity with other cultural institutions and other groups from abroad, inviting and hosting foreign and Greek missions for presenting activities compatible with the aims of the association.
3. The communication and the collaboration of all that is interested in cultural life and in seeking development prospects.
4. The growth and distribution of arts (literature, cinema, painting etc) in the Municipality of Elassona.
5. The acquaintance and contact of our citizens in Greece and in the whole world and tightening the bonds, based on the awareness of the common origin, in the spirit of collaboration in culture and development ideas for the district.
6. The contact, collaboration and intervention in the various institutions, government owned or private, so much in the interior as in abroad, for the promotion of the above.
7. The creation of an information database, via a web site, on the subjects of cultural and development area of the district.
8. The foundation of a lounge-club in which the departments of the Association will function.
9. The organisation of social events among which lectures in scientific and social subjects, as well as in subjects that concern the folklore and history will hold a major role.

The activity, the spirit and the operation of our association have educational and recreational character, it strengthens and facilitates the cultural activity, while at the same time it researches the development prospects of each field of social activity and promotes the undertaking of cultural, social and development initiatives in general. Particular attention is given to the promotion and realisation of the above aims to the youth.

Article 3
The means as to promote the objectives of the Association are :

1. Realisation of cultural events, lectures, congresses, meetings, discussions, studies, publications, cinematographic projections, reports.
2. Organising teams of work-study for special subjects in the framework of our Association’s interests.
3. Organisation of dances, excursions and other events for tightening relations between members and citizens.
4. The publication of informative bulletin and other relative forms.
5. The attendance in the events of other similar institutions and collaboration with other associations seeking common aims.
